Saxifraga is a fictional fashion brand by Bas Steens and Esra Westerburgen. Saxifraga was founded during the Arcade, an artist in residency that is held once a year by Flujas Collective. Here Bas and Esra realized they had a mutual wish to once work for a designer brand. Bas wants to design a scarf for Hermes and Esra would like to create a performance for Balenciaga. The Saxifraga Spring Summer collection presents a series of scarves made with prints from discarded materials and garments from recycled clothes, gathered in the residency’s surroundings. Saxifraga is a type of flower that is known for it’s ability to break stones. Of this flower Bas found a card on the first day of the Arcade.  

During the Arcade 15 artist from various disciplines work together for one week. The participating artist of this is first edition were Madelief Van Beek, Roos Van Geffen, Nanet Hazenbosch, Karlijn Van Kruchten, Lola Schot, Louisa Vergozisi, Esra Westerburgen, Teun Vonk, Bo Jacobs, Bas Steens, Krista Smulders & Michiel Ubels, Renée Verberne, Remy Neumann and Sarah Soethoudt.
